From 2010 to 2014 he has been studying in Accademia Chigiana (Siena, Italy) with Maestro G. Gelmetti, where he was awarded three times with ‘Diploma di Merito’ and Accademia Chigiana scholarships, moreover he always conducted the final concert of the masterclass. Graduated from Master studies in Poznan, Poland in 2011. During last years he worked with many prestigious orchestras across the Europe – Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo, Orchestre National de Lorraine, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester, Regensburg Theater, Orchestre Victor Hugo Franche-Comte, as well as Theatre Regensburg, Orquesta do Algarve, Sofia Festival Orchestra and Orchestra della Fondazione Bulgaria Classic. In Poland he worked with most polish orchestras including National Symphonic Orchestra of Polish Radio, Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra, Polish National Philharmonic Orchestra, NFM Wroclaw Philharmonic.
One of his goals is to promote a forgotten masterpieces of classical music. Therefore he recorded works of Ludomir Różycki and Raoul Koczalski, CD recording with Koczalski works has received a “Music Eagles” prize for the best recording of year 2023 in Poland. Moreover in many of his symphonic concerts he promotes pieces that has been recently discovered – to mention works of F.Nowowiejski, Z.Noskowski, A.Szalowski and many others. His work also includes world premieres of the pieces written by J.Kornowicz, M.Małecki and A.Zagajewski.
While working in Dolnoslaska Philharmonic in Jelenia Gora, he has expanded the orchestra profile, quality and repertoire to a new, high level. Apart of the CD recordings he has cooperated with Polish National Television, recording concerts from the International Henryk Wieniawski Festival. He was one of the creators of the Karkonoski Opera Festival, bringing the opera masterpieces to an open-air enviroment, having thousands of public present. During Covid-19 pandemic, he created a multiple activities on-line, including remote orchestra concerts which has reached more than a 1,5 milion of vievers
Szymon Makowski often collaborates with world class soloists including Aleksandra Kurzak, Roberto Alagna, Stefan Kocan, Olga Zado, Claudio Bohorquez, Agata Szymczewska, Benedetto Lupo, Maurizio Baglini and Mikolaj Zalasinski among many others.
